Creating a template with AI.
The AI template creator builds a full document checklist from a plain language description of your matter. Describe what you are collecting documents for, and Fetcher drafts a complete template you can review, edit, and save in under a minute. No blank page, no rebuilding the same list from memory.
How it works
- 1Open the template creatorGo to
/dashboard/?v=templatesand click Create with AI, next to the regular New Template button. - 2Describe the matterType a plain language description, for example "Mortgage refinance for a self-employed borrower" or "New client intake for an immigration matter." One or two sentences is enough.
- 3Review the draftFetcher generates a complete checklist, document names and suggested file types included, usually in a few seconds.
- 4Edit anythingAdd, remove, or rename items before saving. Treat the draft as a strong starting point, not a finished answer.
- 5Save as a templateClick Save Template. It is available immediately on new requests, the same as any template you build by hand.
Writing a good description
The quality of the draft depends on the quality of the description. A few guidelines:
- Name the matter type clearly: refinance, intake, onboarding, closing, and so on.
- Mention anything unusual about the situation, self-employed, out-of-state, first-time, joint filer.
- State the industry if it is not obvious from context.
- Keep it to one or two sentences. Longer descriptions do not produce better results.
Availability and limits
The AI template creator is available on every plan, Solo, Pro, and Team. During your 14-day free trial, AI generations are capped at 5; paid plans include unlimited generations.
How this differs from industry packs
Industry packs are pre-built checklists maintained by Fetcher for common practice areas. The AI creator builds a checklist from scratch around your specific description, which is useful when your matter does not fit a standard pack, or when you want a template tuned to one client's exact circumstances. See industry template packs if you would rather start from something already built.
