Form RQ-06 · Document Requests

Closing and archiving a request.

Closing a request signals that the document collection phase is complete. It stops all future reminders, prevents new uploads, and moves the request to your archive.

How to close a request

Open the request detail view and click Close Request in the top right. You'll be asked to confirm. Once confirmed, three things happen immediately:

  • All pending reminder emails for this request are cancelled
  • Your client's upload link becomes inactive (they see a "This request has been closed" message if they try to access it)
  • The request moves to the Archived section of your Requests list

Closing a partially complete request

You can close a request at any time — even if not all items have been uploaded. This is useful when you've received enough to proceed, when the matter is concluded, or when you've decided to collect the remaining items another way.

What archiving preserves

Archiving does not delete anything. All uploaded files remain accessible. All activity history (reminders sent, link opens, upload timestamps) is preserved. You can view, download, and export everything from an archived request indefinitely.

The difference between Closed and Archived

In Fetcher, closing a request automatically archives it. There is no separate "archive" action — closing and archiving happen together. Archived requests appear in the Archived filter of your Requests view and can be re-opened at any time.

Closing cannot be undone easilyOnce you close a request and your client tries to use their link, they'll see a closed message. You can re-open the request, but it's worth making sure you have everything before closing.
